SD Memory Card Case
SD memory card case? What’s the point? If your used to carrying around a SD memory card with lots of data, you’ll want to keep it safe. All SD cards have the metal contact strips slightly recessed so they avoid damage, but this doesn’t prevent it from splashed of water heat, or smoke. Imagine how frustrating losing 4GB’s worth of photographs or data files would be!!
One of the ways you can prevent it from happening is to invest in a SD memory card case. After buying a camera, camera case, batteries and a memory card, a card case is probably way down the list of planned purchases yet it can be the most important.
Be careful when choosing you memory card case as a common problem with them is that the pockets for holding the SD memory cards are too big and therefore don’t hold the memory card in place. If the case is then opened with too much vigour the SD memory cards can go flying all over the floor. Preventing this was the whole point of getting a memory card case in the first place so make sure you don’t fall into this trap!
When choosing a memory card case, make sure it does what it’s designed to do. If you are prepared to spend a little more money it’s possible to get a stylish model which will look better when you’re out and about yet offer the same level of protection.
Most SD memory card holders are quite compact; normally no bigger than an ipod. Most have a secure latch to prevent them from opening unexpectedly and this is a feature I’d always look out for. Some of the more fancy models have a rubber lining that will keep you memory card safe even if the case is dropped in water, although don’t rely on it working! It’s better to be safe than sorry after all!
All in all, a SD memory card case is an added expense but it may help you preserve pictures of a holiday or a deceased loved one and when put like that, any cost is a small price to pay.
